Drying Teak wood is not new for the timber industry in Indonesia, especially the city of Jepara as teakwood handicraft-producing city. Various manual way (without Dry Kiln drying machine) has been used also applied.

At the time of our visit to a furniture factory teak, looks an interesting way at the factory in terms of accumulation of teakwood. It’s good we shared tentangkayu although readers may already exist that use the same method.

Factory yard leveled and covered with concrete or cement floors to reduce water evaporation from the soil as well as to accelerate the flow of rainwater into the gutter. Not visible on the roof and walls is the yard. Looks like it was meant for better evaporation.

Teak wood strips placed crosswise in such a way with the position of each page so that there is a cavity-thick teak wood for the way the air evaporation.
And in between the sheets of teak wood is a chip inserted a thin (5-10 mm) as the path of air at the time of evaporation.

Piling method is excellent for maintaining the stability of the wood as well as speed up the drying time. Water vapor to move quickly because the cavity in each piece of wood. Similarly, the sun’s heat is more effective because of the type of floor paved with concrete and cement.

Of course the sheet – the sheet is dried teak is only when the weather is sunny and hot, for further processing in the production room. We have not had time to get information how long the process of drying runs.
